Did you know these amazing little “Rose” formations of Gypsum or Baryte, which include sand grains, form when water evaporates. They are shaped like prisons or flat plates and resemble a Rose. Hence the name Desert Rose also called Gypsum Rose, Selenite Rose, Rose Rock, Gypsum Rosette and Sand Rose. Gypsum varieties have the more defined sharper plates than the Barite variety.
